Policy

Privacy

MacroDigest is designed to work without behavioral advertising or unnecessary personal data.

What the service processes

MacroDigest does not offer reader accounts, comments, payments, newsletters, or personalized recommendations. The application stores aggregated source content, source suggestions, private contact inquiries, pipeline health, and anonymous daily engagement totals. Hosting providers may process standard request metadata needed to deliver and secure the service.

First-party audience measurement

MacroDigest counts edition views, headline impressions, outbound-link clicks, related-link expansions, and completed share actions to understand which editorial packages save readers time. Measurement is first party and aggregated by day, topic, placement, publisher, and story family.

The public engagement system does not use cookies, persistent browser identifiers, individual profiles, behavioral advertising, or stored IP addresses. A random token exists only while a page is open. Before accepting events, MacroDigest issues a short-lived signed session bound to that page view and the connecting browser; it is used only to reject forged traffic. Events are converted into temporary one-way deduplication keys, which expire within 48 hours.

Privacy-preserving traffic measurement

MacroDigest uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to estimate visits, page views, referral sources, countries, devices, and site performance. Cloudflare describes this service as privacy first: it does not use cookies, local storage, or fingerprinting to identify visitors and does not sell, rent, or use analytics data for advertising.

Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track signals disable both measurement systems. They are also disabled on private owner pages and automated quality-assurance requests. Visiting a private owner page also persists the opt-out in that browser, keeping later public-page checks out of the audience baseline. A reader may persistently disable public measurement on this device, and may later restore it.

Owner operations

The private source-review dashboard uses a secure, first-party session cookie after the owner signs in. If the owner enables browser alerts, MacroDigest stores that browser's push endpoint and notification keys solely to signal that a source needs review. These controls are not used on public readers, for audience measurement, or for advertising.

Advertising

MacroDigest does not use behavioral advertising, sponsor tracking pixels, or individualized ad profiles. Any sponsorship is plainly labeled and separated from editorial content. Aggregate engagement may provide a small, population-level editorial signal, but it cannot override source credibility, corroboration, freshness, or market significance.
